The newly-formed BJP-led government in Delhi, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in the national capital. This decision was taken at the first Cabinet meeting held on Thursday.

Under the approved scheme, each beneficiary will receive a health cover of ₹10 lakh, with the Centre and the Delhi government contributing ₹5 lakh each. The Chief Minister assured that all necessary formalities would be completed swiftly to ensure the scheme’s prompt implementation.

The Cabinet also discussed the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, which promises a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 to eligible women in Delhi. This initiative was a key BJP poll promise in the run-up to the February 5 assembly elections. However, Gupta noted that further discussions are required to establish a proper registration and distribution mechanism before payments can be initiated.

Additionally, the Cabinet decided to table 14 pending Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports on the performance of the Delhi government in the first session of the newly-constituted eighth Delhi Assembly. These reports had been withheld by the previous AAP administration.
