As part of this program, Delhi Police is set to conduct an exam specifically for Cyber Police Stations, which handle the growing threat of digital crimes in the city. As reported by news agency ANI, 122 police inspectors have applied for 15 SHO positions available in the cyber police stations in Delhi. The examination will take place on March 18 at the Delhi Police Academy in Wazirabad.
With the rise in cyber threats, the Delhi Police
is looking for top talent to lead its fight against these crimes. Those selected through the exam will be responsible for overseeing cybercrime investigations, digital forensics and cybersecurity enforcement.
“The competition is tough–only 15 will make it. Balancing daily police duties with exam preparation is exhausting, but we know the importance of this role,” an inspector from West Delhi said.
Candidates will be tested on a broad syllabus that includes critical laws and policing acts such as Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), Cybercrime and IT Skills, NDPS Act, POCSO Act, JJ Act, Arms Act, Delhi Police Act, Delhi Excise Act, Companies Act and others.
The exam format will include a combination of multiple-choice and descriptive questions designed to assess applicants’ legal knowledge, investigation skills and decision-making ability.
According to a senior officer, this initiative will ensure only the most qualified officers are granted leadership positions. “This step will sharpen investigation skills and raise policing standards. It’s a transparent, fair, and competitive way to appoint SHOs–something that was long overdue,” said a senior officer.
To ensure transparency, the government is considering this merit-based system for SHO appointments at all police stations in the future.
