Uber had also launched a pet ride feature ‘Uber Pet’ in September last year.
Ola does not have such policy as of now but as per a The Times of India report from June 2021, Ola said, “While we at Ola are not against pets in vehicles, the decision to allow one in the vehicle is with driver.”
The offerings cater to pet owners in finding reliable and comfortable transportation for their dogs and cats.
According to BluSmart, these rides can be booked in advance for standard point-to-point travel as well as rental trips, which would make it easier for pet parents to reach destinations such as veterinary clinics, grooming centres, or leisure outings with their companions.
“We understand the challenges pet parents face when it comes to travelling with their companions, and we’re thrilled to offer a service that makes these journeys safe and enjoyable for all,” said Anirudh Arun, Co-founder and CEO, BluSmart Fleet.
To enhance comfort and hygiene, vehicles in this service are cleaned after every ride and come equipped with foldable dog-seat hammocks, designated carrier space and optimised ventilation.
Riders booking a trip in Delhi or Gurugram can access the ‘Pet Rides’ option directly through the BluSmart app.
Uber has a list of terms and conditions for pet rides, including breeds of dogs that are strictly banned. Pitbull Terrier, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileiro, American Bulldog, and Rottweiler are some of the breeds that Uber does not allow to travel. Also, they limit only one pet, a dog or a cat, to take a ride at one time with its owner.
The terms on limitations are not yet clear from BluSmart. The story will be updated when the company responds to CNBC-TV18’s request for the feature’s policy.
