This partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 principles by leveraging Airtel’s advanced 5G network and Ericsson’s technology expertise at Volvo Group’s facilities in Bangalore. The research will focus on developing and testing industrial Metaverse applications, fostering human-machine collaboration, and creating immersive training environments.
The deployment of Airtel’s 5G Advanced network is a cornerstone of this initiative, enabling ultra-low latency and high-speed connectivity crucial for real-time simulations, design prototyping, and immersive training across multiple factory sites. This allows for the safe experimentation with new concepts, testing “what if” scenarios, and optimizing production workflows without disrupting actual operations.
“Our industry is undergoing a significant transformation, and 5G, coupled with Extended Reality applications, will foster innovation and collaboration across our industrial and R&D sites in real-time,” said Kamal Bali, President & MD, Volvo Group India.
Sharat Sinha, Director & CEO – Airtel Business, added, “Our high-speed, low latency 5G network will redefine the manufacturing sector by enabling real-time XR applications for enhanced productivity, unlocking new revenue streams, and accelerating the adoption of Industry 4.0.”
Nitin Bansal, Managing Director, Ericsson India, emphasized the collaboration’s potential to shape the future of industrial digitalization globally. “By combining our expertise in network technology with cutting-edge XR applications, we are creating an ecosystem that will help industries to transform manufacturing.”
The collaboration aims to enhance network readiness for Industrial XR, paving the way for immersive communication solutions in smart factories and will support the growing demand for XR-driven innovations, aiding businesses to improve productivity and scale operations seamlessly.
