“As Dubai continues to attract visitors from around the globe, the city is tailoring its attractions and campaigns to engage with India’s diverse demographic, including Gen Z and those seeking for a luxury lifestyle experience,” he told CNBC-TV18.
Dubai’s presence at the South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE), which recently concluded, will play a crucial role in building stronger relations with Indian travel industry stakeholders, including airlines, destination management companies, and hotels.

When asked about how Dubai was planning to increase footfalls from India, Habib explained the role culture plays in shaping Dubai’s tourism, particularly through the Al Fahidi District, known as the city’s cultural quarter. “Culture is a very important part of Dubai’s identity. It’s what makes us who we are. There’s a deep historical connection between India and Dubai, especially in textiles and spices,” he said.
He encouraged visitors to experience the local culture during Ramadan, when the city transforms with vibrant markets, social festivities, and unique food traditions, offering a deeper understanding of local customs.

India is one of Dubai’s top source markets and remains a key focus for the tourism department. “India is a special market for us, and we have been tailoring our offerings specifically for Indian consumers,” Habib said, while highlighting UAE’s expansion of its visa-on-arrival programme for Indian nationals. “Since 13 February, Indian citizens holding ordinary passports and valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea – have been granted visa on arrival at all UAE entry points.
Looking ahead, Habib said that Dubai plans to introduce several new attractions to appeal to Indian visitors in 2025. One such addition is the world’s largest Ferris wheel, which offers breathtaking views of iconic landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah. Dubai also unveiled “The House of Hype”, a 100,000 square feet entertainment venue integrated with technology, gaming, and art, which makes it an experience particularly suited to India’s younger audience.
